Wild Leaves

Apart from what Robert and Alison have noted about the who-knows-when?
release of Wild Leaves, PS responded to a question posed by Fiona (on my
behalf) about this during the Rocktropolis chat. PS noted that Wild
Leaves would come out at some point on W.W. Norton but she gave no
specifics as to when. The lack of concrete details suggested that the
release would not be happening right away -- if at all -- during 1998.

But who knows? Maybe she decided to finish it off and release it.
After all, the book was announced in 1994 and was slated for release in
1996 but was pulled in favor of The Coral Sea. The impression I've got
about this book is that it's going to be one of the major works in her
canon -- it's a shame that it keeps getting postponed and postponed.

I think the really interesting thing about this is that she owes one
more book (Wild Leaves) to W.W. Norton as part of her three book deal
with them but has already signed a two book deal with Doubleday and has
started work on a compilation of her lyrics, annotations, and journal
entries from 1971-1998. This collection is slated for release in 1998.
So, it begs the question: If you were W.W. Norton, wouldn't you be
annoyed to learn that a rival publisher is going to bring out a new PS
volume while you're still waiting to publish a volume that was announced
4 years ago??? Best, Steve
