The first warning signs of a Net Congestion-related slowdown.
All you can do on your end is try at a time when
Patti is less likely to be interrupted by the far less
important 'net traffic buzzing around between rocktropolis
and your provider (someone's recommendation of running
a traceroute was a good idea - gives you an idea of how
sluggish things are at the moment) or make sure you
shut down all the other programs sending/receiving traffic
(PointCast, etc.) including any constantly-refreshing animated
ads that Rocktroplis themselves might be pushing,
or automated porn downloads. (You can shut
down Netscape and still have the RA client running.)

I never was _fully_ free of it on my dialup connection,
but it wasn't a problem on the original 'cast, which I
listened to at work.
