In most cases, RA is made available in a data
stream. Unlike HTML files and images, it is usually
the case that an entire RA program (even a perfomance
that is not live) is NOT downloaded
to your computer, but rather only a pointer to the
remote server is. To actually listen, you have to
stay online and connected to the server.

People are confused when they shift-click on an RA
link, and don't get the whole program saved to their
HDs (the way shift-clicking on other types of links
works), but it was designed to behave that way.

Some sites DO offer "traditional" downloads of
full RA files, but that's not the way rocktroplis
(or any of the big RA sites) operates.

(And of course, if you think about it for a minute,
it makes sense that if you are talking about live
events, it's impossible to encode the whole thing,
put it up, and have it available as a fixed
downloadable file at kickoff time
the way PS' show originally was made available
on Wednesday.)

As for sounding like doo-doo, that's not your fault
necessarily. The mono program available for 28.8
connections is not exactly state-of-the-art.

I listened for quite a while after my last message,
and this show is another stunner. I really REALLY hope
decent recordings of these nights eventually surface.
