Thanks Andrew for posting this great Patti interview!
I must admit I was a bit surpised, since I thought Camden was a NJ paper from Patti's home state of New Jersey. But as a read the interview, it became quite apparent no American newspaper would have asked Patti these kind of questions! Certainly no paper in Tennessee.
But, ain't it strange that many of America's great artists, like Edgar Allan Poe, Orson Welles and Patti Smith have to get recognition in the European press before they are considered great in their country of origin?
I guess it's because they speak the truth, against whatever political wind is blowing at the time...
Thus, in ten or twenty years Patti Smith will be considered a great "American Artist," while President Bush will be seen (along with Richard Nixon), as the most corrupt President in the history of the USA, who allowed the planet Earth to succumb to the threat of the "non-existent" threat of Global Warming.
