Same thoughts here. When I saw her cooking fries at Pinks (a hot
dog stand at Melrose and La Brea Ave.) for the late night club hoppers
with a very non-judgmental, happy smile that was real, I changed my
opinion.

People are so afraid to talk about death. One reason is that
it begs the question of an afterlife and religious stuff slips right
into it. The biggest reason is that nobody can opt out of it. We
are all headed for the seat that Tammy Faye talked to Larry King
from.... in one way or another. It's a very deep, extremely personal
thing to discuss.
Years ago, one of the members of X decided to do a little prank
and tell me and others of the Patti fan crew that Patti died. He
was very convincing and thought it was funny to see the look on
our faces. You don't joke about that.
