Good review.
I was at at the show and had a great time. I have to
say though that it dragged in spots for me. When they
played the slower, quieter songs, I was so bored. In
the first set that would include Helpless, Changing of
the Guards. But, Within You, Without You was
beautiful. Mid-tempo, Lenny played a 12-string guitar
giving it a great droney sound, reminiscent of the
sitar on the original. I have to say this show is the
best I've seen Lenny lately, he got off some tasty
solos.
The show really took off when they played Gimme
Shelter. I thought the crowd was levitating, there was
so much energy coming off the tiny stage. Fantastic.
This and Are You Experienced were the best
performances from the new record.
The second set started off quietly with Southern Cross
and built in intensity until Gloria, which closed. The
second set was about 40 minutes. The first set was
about 50 maybe.
Someone taped it so look for it on the torrent sites.
This is one worth having.
