Hi,
I've been listening to an advance copy of "Twelve" for a while now
and must admit that I'm somewhat disappointed with it. The song
selection is fine, but Patti and the band don't do much with them.
Hendrix' Are You Experienced? leads it off and has a rather groovy
vibe to it, but after that, versions of Everybody Wants To Rule The
World, Helpless and Gimme Shelter don't really add anything to the
originals. I'd have to say Smells Like Teen Spirit is the highlight
with its use of banjo and mandolin, but versions of Soul Kitchen,
Midnight Rider and The Boy In The Bubble just lie there. The
arrangements are very bland...how about a guitar solo or something to
liven things up????
Anyone else have an opinion yet?
Cheers,
Marty
