Some random idiots talking about the CBGB's real audio
archive way back when...

It's in a file called archive.ram, stored on your
hard drive after making a RA request. The contents of the
archive.ram file after you select the 28.8 version of
the CBGB's show, is like so:
pnm://hedorah.telebase.com/p/pattismith/patti-28.ra
pnm://hedorah.telebase.com/p/pattismith/patti2-28.ra

>Well, if u r using win95, it's in the registry,
>gotta run 'regedit', do a search fro the patti-28.ra
>or patti-100.ra string. I might be wrong, but it
>seems they route the RA stream thru a weird port
>(deliberately) so that you can't download it
>thru your web browser (which kinda makes sense....).

Running the higher-fidelity CBGB's RA show here at
home, I see that the clip's remarkable little
trick of just dropping off the face of the earth
just before "Because the Night" starts was not unique
to the hardware I previously played it on. It
happened here, too. Still, it could be something
with the the beta version of the player they let
folks d/l for free. The two installations
I'm talking about had that in common...
I also discoverd that this break does not happen
on the 28.8 clip.
I played THAT clip through the intro and launch of
"BTN", and it didn't die on me.

Today I brought my tape deck into work and dubbed
a great copy of the CBGB's show off the internet
using a 500kb Cable Modem. The sound is great!
I'd be glad to make it available for a tree but
first I'd like to bulster my tape collection. So
if anyone want's to trade for a copy, please
e-mail me privately.
Steve R - a copy will be on it's way soon!
Regards to all,
Stuart
