For anyone else interested, the Japanese Fujis were
manufactured by Taiyo Yuden, who continues to market
their own product under their own brand name. You
can get them mail-order from newegg.com:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Brand=8330&N=2010100071+50008330&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=8330&SubCategory=71
Unlike the Taiwan-made Fujis, the TY DVD-Rs from newegg
DO work in my set-top DVR/DVD-R unit (as did the Japanese
Fujis).
That's the acid test as far as my needs go. YMMV.
