2005-08-22 Alzey

Hi all,

Here's the setlist and a short review of Pattis performance yesterday in
Alzey, Germany.

Setlist:

Are you experienced (Hendrix)
Redondo Beach
In My Blakean Year
Free Money
Southern X
Dancing Barefoot
Ain't It Strange
Wing
Because The Night
Fade Away
PHTP
---
Like A Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan)
Gloria

The concert took place in a castle courtyard, very old and quite small. In
front of the stage there were four huge trees, the whole place about 50
meters in each direction. Patti mentioned that they do not build like that
in New Jersey. The ancient walls illuminated with yellow and green colored
light. The weather, although mostly cloudy and cold this summer, was warm
and friendly. Everyone was in a good mood right from the start.

Being there long before time I saw Patti entering the place. She smiled and
paused for a moment so we could take a picture. Lenny walked in a little
later through the waiting crowd. It was a familiar atmosphere, meeting
friends.

Tito and Tarantula was the opening act. Their show was quite noisy and not
well mixed. After a short rearrangement Patti entered stage about 22:00.

During the whole show she was in an extraordinary good mood. Smiling,
yelling and dancing in front of the stage, carrying along the audience with
every song. I have not seen Patti that energetic before.

The band was fantastic. Every bit was in the right place. They played
together as one. Some songs started like a light trickling rain to end as a
hurricane. So intense, so intense.

It was like getting time warped back to the point where everything started.
For me it was the best show ever, a night of real magic. During Gloria she
let the crowd sing the chorus, walking the front line with her mike.

As usual, the show was over far too soon although she played for nearly two
hours. She left us with a big, lasting smile in our faces.

I don't know if there is a recording of this show, maybe it will show up.
The pictures I took will be available by announcement soon.

Patti rules!

Kind regards

Nik
