How much money was at stake here? Did they mention a sum? What do they think
this is? Performance art?
Judge Judy would've given them her price-of-friendship ("Ya know, Mister
Bockris, you're not like other people. You're different. You probably need
all the friends you can get...") routine.
If you appeal a decision made in People's Court, do you wind up in front of
Judge Judy? Maybe she's like the Supreme Court of the American TV justice
system.
