A while back, I started directing all trees
and trades to my post office box because in
the CY 2000, about $200 worth of trades and
BMG Club deliveries to my home address just
disappeared into thin air. So, whoever got
their hands on two (yes, two) Janis Joplin
box sets, and recordings of the Stones in
Buffalo in '81, Europe in '95, and Oakland
in '69, I hope they are being enjoyed and
keeping at least one more employee from
"going postal".

Anyway, one of the first trades I directed
thus, one from Sam Matthews, still managed
to disappear. He kindly and without question
replaced the discs - a fabulous recording
of Patti's excellent July 15 show in Chicago
at Park West last year.

But, lo and behold, surfacing this week at
the post office was Sam's original package,
postmarked November 27, 2000. It's been so
long that I even wrote him asking why he
sent me two, and _he_ was the one who
remembered the travails the USPS set upon
me.

So, at Sam's suggestion, I'm throwing
the door open - anyone who wants the
set, email me a message, and 24 hours
after the next babel digest comes out,
I'll pick one respondent's name out of
a hat and forward to you exactly the
set sent to me, on Mitsui discs and all.

So there's no trivia contest, no email
speed race. But there's not going to be
a tree, either. :) At least, not from me.

It's an excellent show, and a prime source -
either soundboard or radio broadcast, _no_
question about it. Set list includes
"Waiting Underground", "So You Want to be...",
a 10-minute "Not Fade Away", and a 'Jesus died...'
"Gloria" from start to finish - not a medley.

(I'm listening to it now, and it completely rocks.)
