I'll tell you what, I was at an Anaheim Stadium show around 1978, the Some
Girls tour, and the audience hated it. They weren't playing any of the old
stuff so people started getting pissed. They started throwing shit at the
stage, mostly shoes. Mick was dancing around dodging the shoes as they were
whizzing by. Eventually he says, "I want them all." And waves and waves,
thousands of shoes from the upper decks down onto the field started flying
by up towards the stage. I thought it was cool. Anyway, we were pretty
close to the stage and Shattered made quite an impression on me. For days
afterwards I was mumbling "shattered shattered" to myself, "my brains been
battered splattered." So basically, I put Some Girls on the same list as
Beggers, Bleed, etc. In fact I'd say that to this day, Shattered is one of
my favorite songs and Some Girls is one of my favorite albums.
