Yes , agree w/ fiona totally on music/written word
inspirations. Some others I would add: Lou Reed
(ohno not him again!)- especially "New York" lyrics -
and Richard Hell, who recently wrote vastly under-
recognized "Go Now" (Scribner's), and the pocket
sized Hanuman Books "Artifact" (pub. 1990).
If anybody's looking to indulge in semi-contemporary
joycean/burroughsian channeling kerouac dreaming stream,
would suggest :
-Gus Van Sant's "Pink" (Doubleday),
-Sam Shepard's "Cruising Paradise" (Random House),
-Joel Rose's "Kill Kill Faster Faster" (Crown Pub.),and
-"Herbert Huncke Reader" (Morrow & Co.)-
all 1990s additions to the Breton/Celine/Genet/Post-Beat
literary cannon...so light the fuse
