coincidences and biographies

I've found this statement to be true within many online lists I'm on, like the
Sleater-Kinney and Francesca Lia Block lists. - But how about this - two fans o
f both Patti Smith AND Portishead happening to stand next to each other at a fr
ee Psmith concert and not know it until they meet on Psmith's internet mailing
list? How's that for technology ;)

Hillel, it always amazes me when young people like such good music - granted, I
'm only 17 myself! - but there's a 13 year old kid on the Sleater-Kinney list w
ho bootlegs shows all the time and is almost famous for it, and it amazes me so
 much...when I was 14, I was looking so hard for the right kind of music - actu
ally I got my first Portishead and Nirvana CDs for my 15th birthday. So anyway,
 congratulations on finding good music when you're young!! (yeah, everyone's la
ughing at me, I'm only 17 and I'm acting like I'm old...but I so would have lik
ed to have known about Patti Smith when I was 14! or on second though, perhaps
I wouldn't have understood her...)

I'm reading Patti Smith's unauthorized biography by Victor Bockris. Does anyone
 know how valid this biography is, as it's unauthorized? It's very interesting,
 but the word "unauthorized" always makes me wary in biographies. Is there anot
her biography that's better/more accurate; or does anyone know how this one rat
es as far as accuracy?
