Here Ye. Here Ye. One (meaning you and me) had to be dissapointed that Danzig neglected to acknowledge a much simpler time, during his show at the Beacon, AKA the most miserable, f*cking s/.\ty place to see a band known to women and men this side of Borneo. No Misfits, tho shirts were in a bundance tho, No Samhain, just good ole Danzig. Killer, mucho killer stuff, nonetheless seems they've come up with the Danzig 'Hardcore' sound, which they stick in here und there a bit, maybee to keeps the natives restless. Without the earlier stuff, and in general, tho they've got *the* sound, and they tend to stick to it nearly religiously, which probably wouldn't have mattered if they were playing in a place where bands are suppossed to play, as oppossed to a place chamber musicians are suppossed to play. The Beacon, AKA, the s/.\thole. Tho the songs have changed, Mr. Danzig is still Mr. Danzig, and in my humble [cough cough] opinion one of the best frontpeoples going. Tho if he was playing in a real hall, with a space in front of the stage, his handshaking and general bonding with his audience would have been that much more invigorated. Seems this hall stuff, Danzig is outgrowing [??] me. Saved the evening, not that it really needed saving, but I was left a little flat, even if basicly satisfied, not nearly drunk enough tho, which continued regardless. Checked out good old CBGBS to fill the empty space, what little was left, as exhibited by mien exhastion, halfway into the second band. Which *was* Alice Donut, who I'd seen before, and they proved to be as I remembered them, one real killer solid band, even if the singer is a little grating. Ditto plus for the first band I caught. BOMB from SF, more specifically, the 'gender confused' rock n roll band from SF. They was tight, killer, a tad more metallic (a negative), but interesting to the 10th degree. Probably the ideal band to catch right after Danzig, bring you up/down slowly. Good stuff. Very good stuff. Both Bomb and Alice Donut are off to Europe, along with the third band, and the draw afaic, FAlse Prophets. The much maligned, about the last 8 or so years worth. Changed and rearanged. With a brand new drummer. It showed, they knew it, told us, and weren't expecting much. But managed to satisfy, the ever endearing, STephen Ielpi (voted 'most likely reason a terribly consistant, and dynamic, and talented, various groups of people are much maligned) basicly the heart and soul of False Prophets, looks well ready to finally take on Europe. For an obviously new drummer, they did quite the job. I get the feeling when they finally jell, they just might be sounding better then they ever have. All in all an interesting bunch of bands, who all gave it their best, and provided quite the satisfying evening. I was mundane tonight tho. These things happen. Oh yeah, Soundgarden, I almost forgot, better luck tommorrow. Actually, they tasted a bit like a European (mainland that is) metal band, which is good, they did what they do better then most, but they just didn't ring my bell. Voted 'best band to listen to muted from the lobby' without a doubt. doubt. doubt. [errr]. [blip].
