The Legend of Paul Revere

I just picked up the old Columbia/Legacy 2-CD set of Paul Revere and the
Raiders (simply because it was a good cheap used copy). I must say I
thought I had heard it all before. I have the "Essential Ride" CD, "Here
They Come!" and the Sundazed reissue of "Just Like Us," but this is the
first time I've been exposed to most of the stuff pre-1965 or post 1967.

I especially like "Beatnick Sticks" ("Chopsticks" rocked up) and "Midnight
Ride" (he was a cautious mother, that old Revere...) from their early days,
the original "Louie Go Home" (now I know where the Who got it), their hot
rod tracks (especially the kickin' "SS396") and even their later
funk-bubblegum-metal stuff.

I'm really looking forward to the pre-Columbia compilation on Sundazed
which is still eluding us as I speak. It was certainly a nice find until
then.
