Surfin' In The Bars
I love the Nomads & Sons of Hercules versions of this song (Surfin' In
The Bars), but who did it originally?
BTW, I saw the Makers here last night. Incredible show! Michael Maker is
kind of a weird hybrid of Prince and Mick Jagger on speed. Their blues &
R&B fueled garage punk was just as good as I remember when we saw 'em
over two years ago at TrebleFest in Denver. Ya gotta love a band that
encourages ya to throw your beer at 'em. I waited 'til my bottle of Lone
Star was empty before tossing it at Mike's knees. He
bent down, picked it up, made like he was going to chuck it back at me,
and then sat it right next to the bass drum. Other people spit and threw
beer on 'em, too. It was pretty funny. The two songs that got the
biggest reaction from the crowd were "(Are You On The Inside Or The
Outside of Your) Pants" and "I'm Not A Social Kinda Guy". I also thought
it was cool that they played "Damn Nation" (their Godfathers cover from
the Flaming Burnout Estrus Benefit cd on Man's Ruin). The crowd was
great and really into 'em, too. Cool show.
