Fifi the Flea question
If the Hollies' version of "Fifi the Flea" is better than the Sidekicks,
where does that place the Everly Brothers' version? I ask because
I'm desperate to find a copy of "Two Yanks in England" somewhere.
I adore the Hollies, but at times Graham Nash could get a shrill helium-
sucking overtone in his harmonies--a quality Phil Everly never had
to worry about.
I've been Everly-obsessed for a couple of months now. Won't go into
grave details here...lord knows I've bored Lola to tears by goin' on
about how devastatingly handsome Don Everly was in his day (wink, nudge)...
but let me tell you, if you haven't listened to the Everly Bros. in a
while, dig out those Cadence classics and Warners warblings some time.
A lot of their '60s stuff was sappy, but the good stuff that's there
is for the ages.
Greasy pompadours vs. pudding basins? Or both? You decide.
