I first saw them in 1991 and was totally blown away. That night Peter Z
went out into the audience but right as he jumped offstage, he smacked his
forehead on Ken's bass. Back up onstage a few seconds later he's screaming
into the mic with blood streaming down his forehead and nose -- one of the
most awesome rock n roll moments ever.
You can't imagine what it's like playing with those guys -- the Ugly Beats
have never played better sets -- the Fleshtones just bring out the best in
the bands they play with. So yeah, I've known for a long time how amazing
they are live. But after watching them on Saturday, I told a friend I'd
rather see the Flesthones in 2008 than see the Beatles or Stones in the
mid-60s.
They used every square inch of Beerland Saturday.
