Man, I haven't hardly kept up at all this year.

I think Magic Christian are playing a bunch of times.  The Stems have a
bunch of shows while they're here as well.  Also Mondo Topless.  Breakup
Society.  Greg Ashley.  I also heard from a cool band we played w/ called
the Hall Monitors that'll be here.

Anyone arriving early -- the Ugly Beats are playing Wed afternoon w/ Boss
Martians, Black Hollies, and Paul Collins.

Re: Mullens
Their original drummer has rejoined the band.  Dude is a bad ass drummer.
And their new album is awesome.  Definitely go check them out.

Local cats:  Bad Rackets!  I also have some friends in a great band called
Nagel who are playing -- early Blondie/GoGos sounding stuff
(www.myspace.com/nageltheband).  Freddie Steady 5 -- former members of
powerpop legends the Explosives.

Also, if you aren't in Austin very often, you really really really need to
check out AMPLIFIED HEAT.  Three Colombian born brothers doing power trio
like no one you've ever heard -- 1 part Hendrix, 2 parts ZZ Top, 3 parts
Motorhead.  Just unreal.  Their showcase last year was mind blowing -- even
garnered a mention in Rolling Stone!  Must obey the HEAT...
