First off, referring to O.C. as "the O.C." is like calling SF "Frisco" - i.e. no one from there uses that term. It's always been "O.C." as long as I can remember (I think the creators of the TV show put "the" in there) or "behind the Orange Curtain" 
   
  A friend of mine, Ian England, who has a band called Blunt (very Sham 69/Jam/Cockney Rejects type old style UK punk, and quite good, he's from Blackburn Lancashire originally) , plays around Long Beach all the time, you might want to ask him
