Volume is one thing, but, ideally, one should be able
to blast away without much losing clarity.  Distortion
might well be a limitation of the sound system, or a
DJs misunderstanding of either how electronics or
acoustics work.  Watch that gain, those highs ...

I've been spinning essentially "atmosphere" @ corner
bars, and I love it.  Freed from the tyranny of the
dance floor, even though I tend to spin as if at one
anyway.  You have to be just as careful, you can see
people get restless when you screw up.  And without a
dance floor, they're one step close to the door, so
...

The clubs don't make money off the dancing, they make
money off people buying drinks, so ...

I've recently been spinning, say, "Stay with Me" by
The Walker Brothers, at every opportuity.  If there's
one track I've abused, it's Clydie King's "I'll Never
Stop Loving You" (and I won't, so ...) ...
