I'm presuming I'm among "the collectors," and yet I
rarely recognize most of what I hear at, say, the
ModChicago weekender (my one regular point of contact
with the outer world), but then again, I spin a
couple/three times a week in town, and I rarely
recognize even what the mostly local cast of charactrs
who I spin those night with are playing, so ...

So it's not difficult to play something I don't know
at me. And as often as not, the better known the
artist, the lesss likely I am to recogmize their

tend to find, enjoy and play out idiosyncratic tracks,
is all. Being in the often overlapping hinterlands of
a couple/few vintage music scenes ...

Matt was just out here for New Year's Eve (as he was
last year as well, the 4th of July before that), I
unfortunately however ultimately spent the evening not
spinning a few sides myself as I could have, but
staring catatonically rather @ back-to-back showings
of South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut insttead ...

Me, I like the challenge of trying to at least meet
someone halfway whilst mixing it up. The funk night
here (which i've spun o@) occasion rotates every three
records or so, which REALLY keeps things moing ...
