You can dance even if you don't fuck politics, but if you do fuck politics, 
one day you won't be able to dance. Just ask club goers in NYC, where 
dancing is illegal, and where the heavy fine schedule for violations of the 
no-dancing section of the cabaret code have been used to close numerous 
clubs, leaving bands with nowhere to play. It was major Presidential 
contender Rudy Giuliani who made that happen on the road to becoming 
America's Mayor, and if he ever becomes America's President, you can look 
forward to some changes in a lot of things you used to take for granted.

Back in the 1980's, I was dragged into the politics of the Cabaret Code 
because playing saxophone on stage was illegal. We got that overturned in 
court. If anybody likes saxophone with their live music, you can thank the 
political activists, not the dancers, for your access to that pleasure. For 
some like me, it made it possible, for the first time, to earn a living.

One might also feel compassion for the five thousand Americans killed in 
Iraq, who will never dance again, and their families at home, who will 
probably never want to anymore, and/or the 25,000 who are too seriously 
injured to walk properly, let alone dance.

There's no reason why we can't fuck Bush and Giuliani and dance. In fact, if 
you set that to a good beat, it will make everyone dance better and more 
enjoyably.

Remember, all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for people of good 
will to do nothing, which includes dancing during time when you could have 
been doing something. It's not an either-or. We have time to do both, and we 
should do both. Always beware of activists who discourage dancing. 
Ultimately, they're no better than the other side.
