As it turns out, the Post didn't completely get their facts right:

Of course, you can't just blame the Post, as Ars Technica and many others
reported this first.

However, note the bottom of the article, reminding us that Sony BMG's chief
litigator recently testified in court, saying "when an individual makes a copy
of a song for himself, I suppose we can say he stole a song."

But, as an entertainment lawyer friend told me yesterday, "They can claim
whatever they want; that doesn't make it so."
