[bomp] Bomp coffeetable book has arrived
I ordered mine from Amazon.com and it came last week--just two days after
the Creem book.
Haven't had time to read either, but the Bomp book looks much more
authentic. Actual pages reproduced when articles reprinted, so you get the
original page layout and look of the mag--very colorful, psych and punk
looking. And lots of articles that I remember from the old days, including
record reviews and columns, etc.
The Creem book, sheesh, too bad a photographer put it together. There are
page after page after page of full-pages of cover pix--just the picture of
the rocker with a big Creem logo at the top of the page (without all the
article blurbs). And page after page of "Stars Cars" color photos, etc. Cuts
way into the article content. And the wayout articles I remember best aren't
there (No Jaan Uhelski onstage in KISS makeup, for instance). And article
are reprinted in new layouts, without all the cool design and
black-and-white pix. Overall, way too slick and doesn't seem or look like
Creem. At least, that's my first impression.
