[bomp] Alias Shukat
<< Point 3: Interesting that other groups have criticized Milano's book: >>
Why is that interesting -- I mean, if, like you said, "that's a reviewer's
job" ??
<< By not writing about collectible bands like The Fifth Estate or a lengthy
piece on The Barbarians Mr. Milano loses sales. >>
Which, even if absolutely true, is his choice -- or his editors' choice.
<< Brett won't even look anyone in the eye. >>
*HE* won't look anyone in the eye?? At least he uses his own name.
<< My position is that Brett can dish it out but he can't take criticism. >>
AT LEAST HE USES HIS OWN NAME...
<< My criticism of my friend Joe >>
Oh will you GIVE IT UP please????
<< Nancy Foster wrote this on his MySpace tonight: Thanks so much,Joe for
bringing Robert Francos to my Cantab show. There could be no better birthday
present. YOU GOTTA HEART FULL OF SOUL. Warm Regards(you know!),Nancy Neon >>
Like Tom said, Nancy's a class act, and the fact that she seems to have
forgiven "your friend Joe" is proof. So, what, the rest of us aren't allowed to be
offended? No wonder you felt you had to invent someone named "Shukat" to
praise yourself.
<< taking my own personal grudges (if any exist) out of the equation and
fairly evaluating the importance of the music - and remember, it's still merely
one opinion. But it is far more presidential than George W. Bush could ever
hope to be (granted, Bush is a terrible example, but you get the picture) >>
Terrible example? A despotic megalomaniac who tries desperately to rewrite
history every time he opens his mouth?
Joe -- I'm not from Boston, I don't know you, I don't know anything about
you, and for all I know everything you said about Brett's book might even be
absolutely true. That doesn't change the fact that you said it in such an
incredibly bitchy way as to invite a storm of protest, and that's what you got here.
And making up a pseudonym under which to post praise for yourself certainly
doesn't help your cause.
Obviously you've been an important figure in your city's musical history.
Now how about just being content with that? I would.
