[bomp] THE VIG I DIG

While I do find it ironic that someone who tried to shut the list down is now using bit as a forum, what one reads here cannot tell the whole story. Joe Vig surprised me by inviting my dear friend from NYC,Robert Barry Francos of FFANZEEN fame and bringing him to my Lyres show at the Cantab as a belatedly birthday?. Robs?and I danced to MOWE's version of "Redondo Beach" and?I don't think we've danced together in decades. This is a precious memory that I have to thank Joe for. Yes,we've had our falling outs, but I have other sweet memories of times with him-like his treating us(Billy and I)?to a free Zombies show(well Colin and Rod show)and driving us to the Palace in Manchester,NH. Joe is also an animal lover and activist who worked to save animals that were dumped in animal shelter when their human friends went to Iraq. That's how he got Jayden and Sela?,so now?along with Tiger whom Joe already had,he has a nice feline family! Cheers,Nancy Neon PS As far as Brett,he comes to ALL the Lyres' show. So I gotta assume he was AWOL cos he's working on stuff involved in his book release party. As far as I know,Joe did not come specifically to see Lyres-he came to bring Robert to surprise me-but he did say that he enjoyed what he saw of PokemonoJeff's command of the stage. We all have our parts to play in supporting the scene;why can't we support each other and our efforts, too?!

This is ironic. In one paragraph, you complain about people attacking
Viglione rather than the substance of his review (which is untrue. Everyone
read his review and disagreed with specific points made in it) AND attack
people who disagreed with his review.

Nice of Nancy to make up with him. She's a class act, as far as I'm
concerned. He still said what he said.

Meaning what? Viglione has gone to more Lyres shows, so he's above
criticism?

The biggest criticism of his review, which you didn't address, was Simon's
point that the book was written for a larger audience than just people from
the "Boston scene" who want to reminisce so people who are of interest to
that larger audience are going to be covered at the expense of people who no
one outside of Boston cares about.

Viglione goes on about Milano's "lack of objectivity" when his real
complaint is that Milano didn't see things the same way that he did and a
lot of the review sounds more like a personal attack on Milano than anything
else. That opens him up for criticism.

He's such a nice guy that he tried to shut down the list and threatened
to sue Suzy Shaw, me and anyone else he could loosely associate with the
Bomp list because he didn't like what somebody said about him and I
refused to remove the post. He searched the archives for every mention
of his name and wanted every slightly negative mention of his name
removed. Suzy almost made me kill the list or rename it- he was giving
her a hell of a time. He told me that he googles his name everyday to
see what people say about him on different discussion groups and then
goes after them and tries to shut them down. Funny that he has no
problem saying nasty things about other people and defends his comments
as criticism. He's a real mensch.
