[bomp] Thanks Boston Bompers!!!

Wow! I want to thank the bands that played-The Boize, The Classic Ruins, Billy Borgioli, Lady Kensington And The Beat Lords, and Lyres, the people that came and rocked, Mickey Bliss for being da host who is da most, Doug Bruce who made an audio recording, Artie Freedman and Frank Strom who videoed. Blowfish and others who photographed(Boy! This is one archiving city!)I gotta say I was really touched to the bottom of my heart when people filled up the dance floor. I gotta say as much as people enjoy dancing at the Kirkland,I've NEVER seen that many people dancing in a club and looking that absolutely elated! Billy said it was like a high school dance, but I can't compare it to anything except back in the late seventies/early eighties at this club called Friday's in Greensboro,NC, back when people were excited about punk and dare I say it,gnu wave. At the Boston Tea Party 40 year commemorative party, someone made a speech,I think it was Don Law saying something like Boston always WAS a hot city for rock 'n' roll. I was on top of a table and yelled it "It still IS!" )I know why people glorify the halcyon days of the Rat(I was there so I KNOW how great it truly was ,)but don't forget people,Boston still ROCKS. It never stopped rocking and Saturday night was the proof-the city still has great bands(and i wont be completely happy until I'm booking LYRES LYRES LYRES LYRES every week instead of every month!!!) and the bands still have great fans who LOVE them! There were just too many highlights musical and nonmusical to name, but I gotta say just how thrilled I am to meet photographer/writer/NEW SCENE zine editor/publisher, Stevie Gomez from Paris(You can see her great black and white band photos on Flicker. Check out her myspace, you can just go to MY myspace,I'm missnancyneon and click on her profile pix-she's right beside the DMZ profile pic!) Hopefully she'll be in Boston for good soon cos we got resurrect our two eighties' zines as ONE COOL MAG!) Oh yeah, while I gotta thank each and everyone who came,it was !
 encourag

ing to see some newer scene people who I don't usually see at my shows -Joey Boy from Red Invasion(I HAVE tried to book them, they're great. Those guys remind me of D-GENERATION!)and Kara Jean(she's worked for various local labels and studios). They are the present and future of Boston rock 'n' roll-so watch out!! It was also super nice to see Tara and Justine from the Turpentine Brothers who I love.( I also recall the short lived but amazing High Waters!!!) Tara and Justine have been on the scene since I moved here in 2001. In fact,it was seeing Tara play tambourine with the wonderful Triple Thick, that Kenne Highland was inspired to have me go-go onstage with him and this was the seed of Thee Psych-O-Daisies. That's a belated thank you to Tara! Well that's my sending out appreciation for Saturday night that ended up a quick walk through Boston rock 'n' roll memory lane******************My next show is Friday,(yes Friday!!),March 9 with DJ PokemonoJeff(aka Lyres' Jeff Conolly)playing garage rock faves and rareties and live acts-My Own Worst Enemy, The Brigands with special guest Billy Borgioli(guess it pays to know the booker!!!),and The Revealers(Rachel Lee ansd Rockin' Ronnie's new group). We're looking for one more act, perhaps the Ramoniacs. You can count on the fact that I'll keep you posted. ********************My next Lyres show is Saturday(back to Saturday!!!),March 31 at the Abbey(yes, the Abbey. That's exciting,eh?) with Lyres,Belmondos, the Last Ones, and The Revealers.(This is not carved in stone. I gotta confirm!) Look for NEON NITE as a MOVEABLE FEAST coming to The Basement(at the Baseball Tavern)soon. Warmest Wishes to all!!! Nancy "On Fyre" Neon
