Re: [bomp] Re: But the Anvil-To-The-Head scenes can stay

As long as they keep stuffing cats into bottles, I'll be okay!

Actually I've been watching a lot of Looney Tunes, Pink Panther, and Tom&Jerry w/ my 7 y.o. She LOVES it when someone gets blown up, flattened, or electrocuted (skeletons!), but she shows no interest in imitating that behavior. She knows it's a cartoon, and she knew that when she was much younger too.

In the older episodes the Pink Panther smokes cigarettes, and she has commented that this is "unhealthy".

What she DOES imitate is some of the dialog. We've had quite a few exchanges involving Rabbit Season vs. Duck Season, wrong turns at Albuquerque, and "I suppose you realize this means war"...All the good stuff!

LONDON (Aug. 21) - Turner Broadcasting is scouring more than 1,500
classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons, including old favorites Tom and Jerry, The
Flintstones and Scooby-Doo, to edit out scenes that glamorize smoking.>>

how long before they decide to get rid of all the cross-dressing-bugs-bunny
stuff??

& apparently they're OK with elmer fudd "glamorizing" shotgun usage....
