[bomp] Nancy Neon's Birthday Bash-late flash
Those who like to arrive fashionably early to the Kirkland on Saturday,
August 19, will experience the solo acoustic set of the Classic Ruins' Frank
Rowe. Although I can't claim that this is the premier of his folk singing set,
Rowe hasn't been doing his solo sets long and this is something definitely rare.
He will perform from 8-8:30, followed by a set by his full combo, the Classic
Ruins from 9 to about 9:25, featuring Billy Borgioli on a few songs(probably
":Rawhide" and "Geraldine". Borgioli who is currently a visual artist who
has all but completely retired from playing live hadn't played onstage since
Frank's 50th at the Midway in 2001 until Alpo's Trib at Dodge St. this past
July where he played "Do The Boob" with the Ruins-that's three performances in
5 years,so see him while you can!! Howie Ferguson is invited. Who knows if he
can be coaxed to playing drums or percusion. Here's hoping!),Radio Knives at
9:30, Prime Movers at 10:30,and Lyres at 11:30. Whew! Both Arthur Freedman
and Cheryl Eagan-Donovan have been invited to show clips from their work, but
no one has committed themselves. But no worries, anyone who loves garage rock
knows this is a dream bill if I do say so myself! Once again a percentage of
the profits will be dedicated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation in memory
of Joey Ramone. The cover is six dollars-that's even old school prices,eh?! I
hope to see all you Boston area Bompers there. Cheers,Nancy Neon
