[bomp] Re: Smile All The While
Me says:
<<< Anyway, *every* time I've heard this record in the twenty or so years
I've known about it, there was a keyboard after the second chorus playing the
melody for a few bars, >>>
Tom says:
<<< Second chorus? Unless you have REALLY different mix, it's almost at the
end of the song. >>>
Well yes, we're both right...After that second chorus the record is pretty
much over, save for that little tag bit.
<<< I always thought it was a toy horn of some sort, or a trumpet recorded
to sound like a toy horn. A cheapo keyboard makes more sense. >>>
It does sound like a horn, but as I learned online just now, Les Fradkin
claims he plays mellotron on the song, so I'm guessing that's what that is.
This "mix difference" I heard today is just one of those record geek kinda
things that mess me up upon hearing them...like the first time I ever heard
"Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl" with the "Yeah, boys wear pants"...or the
first time I ever heard "Laugh Laugh" with the cold ending.
