I personally really like the first two albums, and the
most recent album was surprisingly decent. However,
they're easy to make fun of, have done some
unforgiveable crap (Standing on the Shoulder of
Giants), and have slipped into self-parody quite,
quite often. 
I think they're a classic example of what can happen
when there are always a certain large number of people
who will buy a band's stuff and see them regardless of
how good or bad it is, as long as it's within the
stylistic spectrum they expect as fans, so the band
doesn't really need to try too hard. I.e. like the
Grateful Dead
