I'd say it's more about web forums like GaragePunk.com Forums, the Goner board, etc.
I have MySpace accounts for both of my bands, plus one of the podcasts I do for the GaragePunk.com Podcast network. I don't spend nearly as much time on the three MySpace accounts - put together - as I used to reading and posting to Bomp. On the other hand, I do spend a fair amount of time checking out posts to the GaragePunk.com forums and, occasionally, the Goner board. I'd also throw in that I check various blogs and occasionally join in the discussions there.
That said, if Bomp were as alive as it used to be, I'd be much happier. I far prefer getting stuff via email than going to web forums.
