[bomp] Really Rockin' In Boston Part 2

Sorry about no message there...I just wanted to say what a great show there  
was Saturday at the Abbey Lounge. I went to see the Classic Ruins at their CD  
release party. The band sounded great and relatively new guitarist,Jeff Crane 
 added a real cool Dolls/Heartbreakers edge. I was ready to take off,but then 
I  started listening to Chas And The Motorbikes featuring alumni from Scruffy 
The  Cat,I decided to hang out. They rocked the house with a real Marshall 
Crenshaw  meets cowpunk(a la Jason And The Scorchers)sound. Charlie Chesterman 
is a great  performer with a humorous, self deprecating stage patter. Last but 
certainly not  least was/were the Incredible Casuals who have been around 25 
years this year!  What keen pop sensibilities. One guitar player is from 
NRBQ,the other guitar  player(Aaron Slade,I( think)adds a real Stephen Duffy/Brit 
pop feel to the  proceedings. People tore up the dance floor like I've not seen 
for years-the  floor was literally vibrating. It's rare to see a bill that 
works that well. All  three bands were giving their all. It was a really natural 
high. And it was fun  seeing Perry Adler,Dave who I danced with at Toast in 
2004 to Lyres, Robert Alan  Colby,Laura Markley and Russell,Mike Quirk,Art 
Freeman who taped them  all,Michelle Meadows who cuts a mean rug,Helanie Saad,etc.. 
The only downer was  that there was a guy that reeked so BAD that I know I 
had a ROTTEN look on my  face all evening. I just hope the bands didn't think it 
was in response to them.  I'm wearing my new Ruins t-shirt as I type this. To 
get your own make sure to  show up at the Kirkland for the BIG RAWK SHOW May 
20 for the Crybabies, Classic  Ruins, Eric Martin & The Illyrians,and Lyres. 
Definitely see Chas & The  Motorbikes and the Incredible Casuals when you get a 
chance. This Sat. at the  Middle East check out Fox Pass, Fighting Cocks, 
Kenny Chambers(and the Stone  Cold Strangers or something...),and the Illegals 
with Ray Boy from the  Atlantics. Cheers y'all,Nancy
