[bomp] JFK movie
Stone said that his point in making the film was to open up a national
dialogue about what "really" happened - not just w/ JFK but Vietnam, etc.
Unfortunately, I think a lot of people saw it as a kind of documentary which speaks
volumes about just how dumb this country can be sometimes...

The problem was this; my recollection was that, immediately, there was this
huge backlash on the cover of TIME, NEWSWEEK and a bunch of other mags and
newspapers with articles calling Oliver Stone crazy, and suddenly we were reading
all these crackpots defending the Warren Report, as if it were the final word
on the situation. It created, in the media, sort of a "flat earth society"
effect... also similar to the people who were goin' around sayin' there was
never a holocaust. Suddenly, if you thought there was more than one gun in the
JFK murder, the media began pretending those theories to be ludicrous. So
instead of opening up a dialog, it gave the press a chance to dismiss what is
obvious from the Zapruder film.
The problem is this; the people who killed JFK are running the White House
today, screwing up big time. What I can't figure out is how come documents
explaining whodunit are "sealed". To me, this is akin to Nixon tapes disapearing
and Enron paper shredding, but way, way beyond that.
Bomp-worthy? Sorry, folks.
