i think that's definitely part of the problem; also, the number of quality
garage/psych reissues (as opposed to endless repackaging of the same stuff)
really began to drop off about 2002, and that didn't help things - as far as
conversation starters were concerned.
when sundazed started their comprehensive harpers bizarre reissue series, the
writing was pretty painfully on the wall...
