I haven't rigged mine up in the car yet but it sounds pretty
good hooked up to the home stereo (see antenna tips below.)

If you mount the car kit antenna on the roof of the car
then you should get pretty good reception unless you're
in a tunnel or surrounded by a lot of tall buildings
and can't pick up a satellite or ground repeater signal.

Also, you'll probably get better sound quality if you can
hardwire it to your existing car stereo's AUX input rather
than using the FM modulator. You won't be able to do this
with all factory head units, though.

The Sirius models I've seen come with the car installation
kit but you have to buy the home cradle/antenna separately.

On a home installation the antenna positioning is a little
trickier than for car installation. I was getting signal
dropouts when I first hooked it up (with the antenna just
sitting on the window sill) so I ended up having to drill
a hole in the window frame and mounting the antenna on the
side of the house with an unobstructed view to the west.

Here's a map that shows which direction you need the
antenna to face depending on where you're located:

You might be close enough to NYC that you can pick up
the signal from the Sirius ground repeaters, they've got
'em positioned in most metro areas. If that's the case
you may not have to worry as much about antenna positioning.
