[bomp] Re: What'd Ya Get?
I just treated myself to some out-of-town record-shopping in Ottawa and
Pointe-Claire, where I picked up a CD ( Terry Reid's Silver White Light,
live in 1970), a book (Lillian Roxon's Rock Encyclopedia from 1971), and a
few LPs:
- Graham Bond Organization / Live At Klook's Kleek (Get Back 1964)
- Henry Gross / s-t (A&M 1973) love this guy
- Danny Kirwan / Hello There Big Boy (DJM 1979) not as good as his first
two but still solid
- David Wiffen / s-t (Phonodisc 1971) really love this guy, ex 3's A
Crowd
- Wenzday / Nearly Made It (Skyline 1977) Canadians covering Kenny!
- Jimmie Spheeris / Isle Of View (Columbia 1971)
- String Driven Thing / s-t (Buddah 1972) a nice surprise
- Paley Brothers / s-t (Sire 1978)
- Mott The Hoople / All The Young Dudes (Columbia 1972)
- Ian Matthews / Some Day You Eat The Bear (Elektra 1974) hello Honeybus!
- Ian Matthews / If You Saw Thro' My Eyes (Vertigo 1971)
- Lulu / New Routes (Atco 1970) she's hot on the back cover
- Speedy Keen / Y'Know Wot I Mean (Island 1975) he was a cool cat
- Henry Gross / s-t (ABC-Dunhill 1969)
- Bernard Estardy / La formule du baron (Dare Dare 1967) I was surprised
to find a used copy, although it is the reissue
- Arlo Guthrie / Arlo (Reprise 1968) with the great "Meditation (Wave
Upon Wave)"
- Truck / s-t (Capitol 1972) a Canadian band not to be confused with the
awesome South-East Asian seventies band of the same name
- Jules & The Polar Bears / Got No Breeding (Columbia 1978)
- Man Made / s-t (Good Noise 1974)
- Richie Havens / Stonehenge (Stormy Forest 1969) the first release on
his label, with a great version of I Started A Joke
- Fox / s-t (Ariola 1975)
- David Werner / s-t (Epic 1979)
- Willis Alan Ramsey / s-t (Shelter 1972) great sort of Texas
country-folk cult LP
- Rick Nelson / Rudy The Fifth (Decca 1971) solid stuff
- Don Cooper / s-t (Roulette 1969) now I see what the Don Cooper buzz is
about
- Goblin / Roller (Attic 1976) those Dario Argento collaborators
- Peter Sarstedt / As Though It Were A Movie (World Pacific 1969) his
second LP
- Steppenwolf / 7 (MCA 1970)
- Spooky Tooth / Witness (Island 1973)
- Matthews Southern Comfort / Later That Same Year (Decca 1971)
- Guess Who / Canned Wheat (Pickwick 1969) killer alb, thanks to Mike F.
for the recommendation!
- Ian Matthews / Tigers Will Survive (Vertigo 1972) clearly I'm on a Ian
Matthews kick
- Roxy / s-t (Elektra 1970) Bob Segarini post-Family Tree/pre-Wackers
- Steely Dan / Can't Buy A Thrill (ABC 1972)
- Jim McCarthy / Alien (ESP 1973) pretty killer laidback folk-rock album
with a real warm feel to it by this ex-Godz
Cheers to all!
