But not the first...a Cuban named Esteban Bellan played in the National
Association, the forerunner of the National League, in 1871-73. Luis
Castro, from Colombia, played in 1902. Half-black Cuban outfielder Armando
Marsans played from 1911-18, and another Cuban, Rafael Almeida, played from
1911-13. And there may have been others. Which makes it all the more
ridiculous to call Vic Power one of the first...
