Re: [bomp] NYC hotels?

Hi David,
I dont know how familiar you are with the area, but you should know that NYC hotel rooms will be VERY small. Reasonably priced ones should be investigated as much as you can, via those Trip Advisor websites and what have you. Not to put a damper, but if you don't you might end up booked in an undesirrable place. . And for a family trip, I figure you want to avoid that! You might consider sticking with the chains.

There are a lot of hotels in NJ, just google it-particularly Secaucus, that are very convenient to busses. A lot of them have shuttles as well. It's not very scenic in that area, but it's very close to the city, just a couple of miles, and you might get more bang for your buck.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can drive right through the Lincoln Tunnel and be in NYC in ten, fifteen minutes. If there is traffic, well... that's quite another story!

I'm going outta town til tuesday but if you get this tonight and have any ???s feel free to email.
  Cheers.

We're thinking of making a family trip to NYC next week. I was hoping
someone might have a suggestion for an affordable hotel, either in
NY or
NJ, preferably close to public transportation.
Thanks,
