<< I just can't get it out of my head; it's a great fucking song there (or
fragment at least). Here's a legal inquiry. If there's no one that gets the
legal credit for this song (in spite of it being in the movie), could
someone (maybe me or someone else) rip off some of the cord/melody of that
particular song into a 2005 version of it. A friend of mine wants me to write a
song for a mutual friend of hers, and I am thinking of great lyrics myself to
this
melody. What could be the legal repercussions? >>>
Well, at least that'd be ONE way to find out who wrote it...Release it with
your name as songwriter, and whoever sues you is the likely candidate. :>
But actually, I was in a band once that tried to turn that fragment into a
whole song. The film has one and a half verses, so I made up the rest. I think my
last verse was something like "Gonna leave her, gonna leave her, I'm gonna
curse the day I met her, I don't need her, I don't need her, Gonna try hard to
forget her. Tambourine Man, hound her." I tried taping a version once, years
ago. I never finished it. Maybe one of these days I'll go back to it.
