[bomp] Re: John Cale

That was me, actually...Mark Lindsay has a very good memory and he was able
to tell us exactly what was used on most tracks -- the majority of the Melcher
songs have at least two electric bass tracks and a set of disembodied Hammond
organ pedals backing them up. Very often you can hear a "ghost" bass as well
-- it's evident in "Him Or Me" if you turn it way up, during those parts in
the verses when you think nothing's playing except a tambourine.

As for Cale having worked with Revere, that's highly unlikely -- Revere isn't
even ON any Raiders records after "Just Like Us," except for the odd kibitz
or vocal part. They're all complete Melcher/Lindsay constructs, using the
other band members as sidemen (except on those members' own songs.) The organ you
hear on those records was usually either Melcher or Lindsay, or a session
hotshot like Don Randi.
