Probably you heard this already and probably you wonder what it has to do with rock n roll. Well, book packager/publisher Preiss wrote a seminal Beach Boys book, long out of print. While know mostly for science fiction (I know some of you swing that way: Blair, Cheryl, Fuzco, Larry), he also brought some of my favorite mystery writers back into print. In fact, he did too much to go into here.
One of my favorites from him though was GUTS about a time travel experiment gone awry. Mark Gutstein from the future bones up on '50s rock n roll culture in order to be sent back and study the era but mistakenly ends up in the then current '70s! Actually, the short story is far superior to the novel spun off from it.
A great man.
