Oh, I'm not worried about legal action. They can't do anything to me, even
if I did live in the US (I am a US citizen- not that that really matters).
They can, however, make nuisances out of themselves- that's what lawyers do.
I don't have the time or the energy to put up with the crap they may try to
cause. Their lawyer is already involved (at least according to one of them),
but I suspect they were chest-pounding to try to scare me. Little do they
know that I worked in entertainment and copyright law for years (lots of
intellectual property stuff). I know where their limits lie. It would have
been nice had I been approached with a little courtesy instead of nastiness.
I was treated like I was the enemy. Suzy was nice (as always), just
irritated. It was someone else who came on like gangbusters.

I don't want the list to go. I've made lots of friends and have been here
(off and on but mostly on) since mid '95 or so. But I will respect Suzy's
wishes. A name change may be a better idea.

I wouldn't sweat it, it doesn't look like they even have
a valid trademark on the name "Bomp":

Plus, you have the added protection of not living in the
U.S.

You should probably still change the name of the list just
to be a nice guy, or maybe just stick a fork in it and put
it out its misery.

But if their lawyer starts threatening you, tell 'em to
piss up a rope...
