laura is almost perfect--otto's best movie, webb's best, tierney at her most
seductive (right before that rat bastard jfk started to bang her), but a
weak chinned dana andrews

i also just watched murder my sweet--thank god for NY Pub Lib!!--and re-read
all his novels last month: needless to say... but what i don't remeber was
how funnu little sister is--his last, right?
btw murder starts off a spree of screenwriting gems (that, blue dahlia, big
sleep, lady in the lake, strangers on a train [the best hitchcock] that is
UNPRECEDENTED for quality in hollywood for such a short period--even if he
co-wrote them, they are HIS movies. only preston sturgis's string of genius
comedies rivals this 5 year highlight of american film.
