On that note...a new thread. What are some of your favorite guitar solos to
listen to? BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND...I'm not talking about "good" solos like
something that showcases skill or accomplished playing...Screw that. :> I'm
talking about more oddball picks that you always like to hear, even if the
playing itself isn't so hot.
a varient: best bass Solo..."I need" by the Buzzcocks (Spiral Scratch EP)
The only bass solo you'll ever need, outside of anything the Headless Horseman
play or Nick Lowe, Shake that Rat (Best version is his guest with Los
Straitjackets)
Guitar Solo? So many leap to mind, The Feelies cover of "What Goes On", Lots
of Richard Lloyd stuff (Blue and Grey, Fields of Fire), Early Luna stuff
(think Bewtiched and earlier), Deke Dickerson playing live with Untamed Youth,
the playing of my pal Rocco on a lot of our Subway Surfers stuff and Mike
"the swiss army knife of guitar" Sknoof when he sat in with us and did a solo
on "Fallout Shelter that started with a note of distortion and ripped in to a
solo that was like the audio version of a Cheetah chasing a gazelle...
rambling....Moparlary
