[bomp] NO COMMENT: A workplace conversation about the Ramones!
Greetings & Salutations!
A few nights ago, there was a workplace conversation about music. Some
people find me curious anyway, and they decided to ask what I like to listen to.
Well, I could mention every "obscure band" that I listen to, but I decided
to mention the most mainstream of what I listen to in order to give them some
idea. I mentioned 1950s and 1960s rock n roll; I also said from the 1970s
and 80s that I like the Ramones. One of my co-workers replied, "they suck!"
He also went on to say that "they were ugly."
Here's my NO COMMENT commentary.
What silly shit someone would spew out of their mouths, even if it was
(wrongfully) opinionated based. Should it matter if the Ramones were (as my
co-worker put it the other day), "ugly?" I simply do not listen to a band based
on how someone dressed or looked. Granted, the Ramones' look was actually a
cool look. Who knows? I could be right. Anyway, I went off politely on my
co-worker about how it didn't matter how people looked. If that was the case,
I would be a big fan of Mandy Moore or Avril Lavinge today. They can't
sing, but those ladies are nice to look at.
Cheers,
Melvin Little
