[bomp] Re: bomp-digest V2003 #1093

I was probably the Unclaimed show I guess, but don't
remember it being called anything with Brian Jones. At least I saw them a
few times at the Whiskey with the Last, and quite a few other groups. Maybe
it
was one of those nights. Tony

Well, here's the interesting thing about the Brian Jones night... Shelly had
arranged it so that CHARLIE IS MY DARLING was screened at Whisky a Go Go as
well as several Brian Jones-era Rolling Stones clips from Sullivan or whatever.
But it was definitely called "Brian Jones Night" and the neat thing was that
Brian Jones' son that was living out in the desert with Donovan and his wife
came, as well as Keith Richards' daughter... I remember reading about that in
the L.A. Times after the gig happened... it was the first time those two had
met. Sounds like it was a really cool evening, and its stuff like that I
really feel burned about missing during the early '80s when I'd banished myself
from going to shows for a few years after the L.A. Punk scene began to suck in
1979... the only thing I really saw between 1980-1985 (a long sabbatical!) was
Duane Eddy with Steve Douglas, Hal Blaine, Ry Cooder, Don Randi in his band at
the Wilshire Theater... o.k., that, I couldn't pass up in 1984!!! Sheer
godhead. But I always feel I missed alot between that time, mostly the Crawdaddys,
the Rave Up and things like that.
